Pewter Grey Roof Replacement on a Mixed-Slope Pittsburgh Home
The homeowner wanted to replace an aging roof before an active leak developed. The existing roofing was approximately 40 years old, and the two-story Pittsburgh home combined steep-slope shingle roofing with a low-slope section.
Project Overview
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15224
Completed: June 5, 2026
Installation time: 1 working day
New roofing: GAF Timberline HDZ
Color: Pewter Grey
Materials and finishes: Deck-Armor; WeatherWatch; Snow Country Advanced
The starting point
That combination shaped the project: the replacement needed to address both roof areas, together with ventilation, decking work, and the flashing details around walls, chimneys, and penetrations. Access was from the street rather than a private driveway.
Roof replacement in Pittsburgh
MY Pittsburgh Roofing removed the existing roofing, completed decking repair or replacement, and installed GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Pewter Grey on the shingled areas. The system included Deck-Armor underlayment, WeatherWatch leak barrier, starter shingles, intake ventilation, and Snow Country Advanced ridge ventilation.
Roof tear-off and decking work
Shingle and low-slope roofing work
Intake and ridge ventilation
Chimney, wall, and pipe flashing
Chimney and step or wall flashing, pipe flashings, drip edge, and gutter apron were also included. The low-slope roof area was addressed as part of the replacement. The project was not presented as a gutter replacement simply because a gutter apron was installed.
The result
The roofing work was completed in one working day and received a final project inspection. The home had a new roofing system, with improved ventilation noted after the project.
