The homeowner was experiencing a leak beneath a rear section of the roof. The single-story Pittsburgh home combined steep-slope and low-slope roofing, but the agreed project covered only the affected section.
Project Overview
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15237
Completed: August 29, 2026
Project duration: 2 working days
Materials and finishes: GAF Timberline HDZ, Pewter Grey; black low-slope roofing
The starting point
The roof materials in that area were old. The selected rear section defined the replacement scope, keeping the work focused on the leaking area while the rest of the roof remained outside this project.
Partial roof replacement in Pittsburgh
MY Pittsburgh Roofing removed the affected roofing and completed decking repair or replacement. The section received underlayment, ice-and-water protection, starter shingles, roof-edge components, and step or wall flashing as part of the replacement.
Removal of the affected rear roofing section
Decking work
Underlayment and leak-barrier installation
Roof-edge and wall-flashing work
GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Pewter Grey were used within the mixed-slope scope, with black low-slope roofing also listed for the project. The different roof sections were not treated as though the same material belonged on every slope.
The result
The partial replacement was completed in two working days, with cleanup and a final inspection. The leak had stopped after the repair. Only the selected roof section was replaced.
