Roof and Gutter Replacement with Low-Slope Roofing in Pittsburgh
An aging roof, damaged shingles, failed flashing, and poorly draining gutters placed this Pittsburgh home at increasing risk of water damage. The property included a main sloped roof, a small porch roof, and a bay-window section that required low-slope roofing materials. My Pittsburgh Roofing replaced the full system with GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, GAF Liberty low-slope roofing, and new seamless gutters and downspouts.
Project Overview
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15209
Property: Two-story home with porch and bay-window roof sections
Project: Full roof replacement and gutter replacement
Approximate roof size: 18 squares
Approximate gutter length: 155 linear feet
Existing roof: Aged 3-tab shingles and failing gutters
New roofing: GAF Timberline HDZ and GAF Liberty low-slope roofing
Color: Slate
Installation time: 3 working days, with a rain delay
The Challenge
The old 3-tab roof had reached the end of its service life, and damaged shingles and failed flashing had weakened the home’s weather protection. The gutters were no longer draining correctly, creating concern about runoff near the foundation. With no driveway and street-only parking, the crew also had to plan material delivery, debris handling, and cleanup carefully around limited site access.
Inspection and Project Plan
The replacement combined materials suited to each roof surface. GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Slate were installed on the standard slopes, while GAF Liberty in a matching Slate finish was used on the low-slope section. Premium underlayment, ice-and-water protection, starter shingles, ridge ventilation, step flashing, and chimney flashing completed the roof system. Approximately 155 linear feet of new seamless gutters and downspouts restored the drainage path.

Final Result
The home now has roofing materials matched to the pitch of each surface, improved ventilation, corrected flashing, and a drainage system that carries water away more effectively. The uniform Slate color gives the main roof and low-slope sections a coordinated appearance. Despite a rain delay and limited parking access, the project was completed in three working days and passed final inspection.
